1 Peter 5

Shepherd the Flock of God

So I exhort the elders among you, a as a fellow elder and b a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: c shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight
Some manuscripts omit  exercising oversight
e not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;
Some manuscripts omit  as God would have you
g not for shameful gain, but eagerly;
not h domineering over those in your charge, but i being examples to the flock. And when j the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the k unfading l crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. m Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for n God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

o Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, p casting all your anxieties on him, because q he cares for you. r Be sober-minded; s be watchful. Your t adversary the devil u prowls around v like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. w Resist him, x firm in your faith, knowing that y the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And z after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace aa who has called you to his ab eternal glory in Christ, will himself ac restore ad confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11  ae To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Final Greetings

12 By af Silvanus, a faithful brother as I regard him, ag I have written briefly to you, exhorting and declaring that this is ah the true grace of God. ai Stand firm in it. 13 She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings, and so does aj Mark, my son. 14  ak Greet one another with the kiss of love.

al Peace to all of you who are in Christ.
